Wooliedales had their inception “in utero.” Like a new mother waiting for her child to be born, I wiled away the time sculpting wool Airedales, waiting for my puppy Airedale to come into being. She was born in Connecticut in 2001, the progeny of wonderful parents, Ch. Serendipity Airedales Eagle’s Wings and Ch. Greenfield’s Liza of Craigston, and came to live with us as Jesse...of the House of Usher. She’s been the continuing inspiration for the Airedale sculptures as her personality and antics present countless new and different poses and expressions. Wooliedales, Etc. now have homes in 34 states and 5 countries. The photo model for my first piece was a beautiful Airedale bitch named Sally (above) from Shadlian Airedales in England. This first sculpture was sent to her owners in appreciation for allowing Sally to begin my journey into this art form. Since then, I have sculpted hundreds of Woolies. The addition of another Airedale to our household - Scuffer - creates myriad additional antics from which grow so many more inspirations.
Scuffer Who wouldn't find watching Airedales play inspirational? J
