All these pieces are needle-felted in quality wool to create the desired effect and character of each. A few are accented with other materials as described. All are one-of-a-kind creations and are designated as my original work with a sterling silver "W" imbedded in the wool.

16½" high

Italian Immigrant Worker

$595

17" high

Italian Immigrant Woman

$595

13¾" high

Italian Immigrant Newsboy

$525

Our forebears are more than worthy of our admiration. Mine were Italian. Leaving their  homelands and settling in a New World, they endured the hardships of acclimation and helped transform their adopted country as they became Americans. These soft sculptures were modeled after images of the early Italians, but peoples of all nations, languages and cultures have arrived on our shores looking for a new life.

8½" high x 8½" long x 2½" wide

Donkey with Saddle and Blanket

[Sold, Thank you]

Donkeys and mules were a big part of the agricultural workload in Italy. Every farm had them to help carry their gear. We still find use for them today, and sometimes just love having them around. Their eyes are so expressive and kind.

16" high

Italian Zampognaro

$595

The Zampognari are Italian bagpipe players, shepherds who came down from the mountains to play in the nearby villages, particularly at the nativity scenes the Italians loved to display at Christmas. They would also travel house-to-house playing for food or any money they could collect to help their meager existence as shepherds. The tradition continues today at Christmas festivals.

Billy Goat Gruff

(SOLD, Thank You!)

$325

...but not so gruff. He sports a bright red collar so he can be led around the farmyard with you and a bell so you can locate him.

He is needle felted from natural wool fiber, stands 9 inches tall and 9 inches long. His bony anatomy is very visible, his hoofs cloven, his horns of black polymer clay.

He makes a good complement to the immigrant figures and a good companion for the apple-bearing donkey.
